How to Form Present Continuous Sentences

Present Continuous Forms

Forming sentences in the Present Continuous is simple once you know the basic structure. Here’s how to do it:

1. Positive Sentences:

Use ‘am’ with ‘I’, ‘is’ with ‘he,’ ‘she,’ and ‘it’, and ‘are’ with ‘you,’ ‘we,’ and ‘they’, followed by the verb ending in ‘-ing.’

  • Example: “I am going.” / “She is playing.”

2. Negative Sentences:

Add ‘not’ right after ‘am,’ ‘is,’ or ‘are.’

  • Example: “I am not going.” / “He is not playing.”

3. Questions:

To ask questions, switch the position of ‘am,’ ‘is,’ or ‘are’ and the subject, followed by the -ing verb.

  • Example: “Am I going?” / “Is she playing?”

These straightforward rules make it easy to use the Present Continuous in everyday conversations.
